The Davao City government is placing food security as a top priority amid the continuing increases in the prices of petroleum products.
According to the Davao City Information Office, the City Agriculturist’s Office (DCAO) has mobilized its resources to ensure a steady supply of agricultural products.
DCAO also conducted an inventory of the city’s food production sector and is closely coordinating with local farmers and cooperatives to maintain a sustainable supply of agricultural products.
The local government also provides necessary support and inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and feeds for inland fisheries, aimed at boosting and sustaining local production.
The city government continues to strengthen sustainable agricultural programs, including composting and vermicast production to reduce fertilizer costs, exploring regenerative agricultural practices, and expanding household gardening initiatives to further enhance food security for residents.
