The top officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Agriculture (DA) inspected an unfinished farm-to-market road in Braulio Dujali, Davao del Norte on Friday, March 27, 2026.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon and DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. checked the progress and quality of the project.
The 800-meter section of the road has already been completed, with 1.9 kilometers remaining.
The project, which has been put on hold due to funding constraints, is expected to be completed within the year.
“Kulang pa di pa tapos to, sabi ng pangulo kailangan tapusin ito 1.9km na lang ang kailangan pasalamat tayo kay Sec. Kiko kasi nagcommit na siya ng funding para rito hopefully matapos natin this year,” Dizon said.
A farmer said the farm-to-market road significantly reduces their transportation costs.
“Kung noong unang panahon nakakagasto(s) kami ng isang litro ngayon papuntang palengke, sa ngayon, andoon na lang kami sa kalahati sa tulong ng FMR,” a farmer said.
Laurel said the public can monitor the status of all farm-to-market road projects through the official online transparency portal.
“This is part of the FMR watch, any netizen or citizen can just go there makikita niyo to na tapos na o kung anong status so live yan 24 hours a day tingnan ninyo para makita ninyo na transparent na talaga ang pag-implement woth DPWH and DA,” Laurel said.
DA is also set to distribute support to farmers and fisherfolk starting April 6, 2026, with a total fund of P10.6 billion.
“Kaya lang limitado ang pondo yong 2 hectares below na rice farmer mabibigyan ng 2,325 each mga 2.1 million(farmers) yon…may 1.475 million corn farmers naman ang kasama rito 499,000 fisherfolk, 102,000 na sugar workers,” Laurel added.
The agency is also awaiting approval to use funds from the Quick Response Fund (QRF) for fuel subsidies, which will be distributed via cash cards.
“Nag-declare si Presidente ng state of (energy) emergency, nag-request na ang DA ng QRF (Quick Response Fund) for fuel subsidy para sa mga may harvester hopefully makuha namin ng mayo yon para bago mag land prep(aration) ng mga farmers natin may magbigay kami ng konting fuel,” Laurel said.
