As the government’s ‘Oplan Harabas’ continues, two more drivers tested positive in a random drug test in Antique, Aklan, and Capiz.

‘Oplan Harabas’ is being implemented by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at terminals, as well as the Iloilo International Airport.

Earlier, six drivers tested positive in the surprise drug test.

“Ang anim na positive is fairly a small number pero it’s a concern sa atin kasi alam naman ng ating mga motorista na every year natin itong kino-conduct and yet meron pa ring nagpo-positive,” said Shey Tanaleon, spokesperson of PDEA-6.

Ensuring that drivers are not using illegal drugs while on the road gives make commuters feel safe.

“Mas prefer na merong drug test ang driver para kung sakali, para aware ang tao sa kanila,” says Ciare Queen Gumban, a commuter.

One of those who underwent the test is Diomar Rocio, a PUJ driver. He agrees that the test helps ensure road safety, especially with the anticipated influx of passengers traveling for the Holy Week break.

“Hindi naman ako kinabahan. Mas mabuti ito para safety ang pasahero, para normal ang takbo sa kalsada,” he said.
