Up to four gasoline stations in Tagbilaran City, Bohol are being made to explain why prices of their petroleum products are higher than other stations.
“Naa tay nakita 3 or 4 gasoline stations… atong nakita nga naay need nga maka-justify o mo-explain ngano ing-ana ang presyo sa ilang gasolina,” said Vice Mayor Adam Jala.
A show cause order would be issued to these gas stations.
These gasoline stations are among the 40 stations Jala and the Tagbilaran City Crisis Management Committee inspected on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
The surprise inspection was done to ensure gas stations in the city follow the recommended prices of fuel.
It was also done to ensure no gas station is taking advantage of the ongoing fuel crisis through profiteering, hoarding, and other illegal means.
“Nag-conduct ta og mga surprise inspection sa atoang mga gasoline station nga nag-operate diri sa dakbayan sa Tagbilaran isip parte sa pag-monitor sa presyo sa gasolinahan nga walay pang abusar, profiteering, hoarding or illegal activities nga nahitabo labina sa panahon sa krisis. This is just part of our duty nga pag- proteksyon ug panalipod sa atuang constituents diri ug sa mga consumers," Jala said.
LIBRENG SAKAY
Meanwhile, as prices of fuel continue to rise, the city government has fielded six buses that commuters can take for free.
The buses will operate in different routes from Monday to Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The city hopes to help residents save on fare, especially during peak hours.
The city is also working on a subsidy program for jeepney and multicab drivers.
