Police stepped up inspections at bus terminals in Dagupan City on Holy Wednesday, April 1, 2026, as passenger volume rose ahead of the Holy Week rush.
Operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) K9 Group swept terminals on Wednesday morning to ensure the safety of travelers heading to provinces.
Authorities said the inspection aims to prevent dangerous items from being brought onboard.
Mike Monio of the Pangasinan 4th District EOD-K9 Group, said.
Police reminded the public that sharp objects and explosives are strictly prohibited as these pose risks to passengers.
Passenger traffic has increased to around 2,500 to 3,000 daily on Holy Wednesday, up from about 2,000 in previous days, according to authorities.
Bus companies said they have enough units to meet the surge in demand.
Trip intervals have also shortened to 20 to 40 minutes from about one hour due to the high number of passengers. Fares remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, bus operations on Good Friday, April 3, will run only from 1 a.m. to 12 noon.
Authorities advised travelers to arrive early at terminals, avoid wearing expensive jewelry, keep belongings secure, stay alert against pickpockets, and bring only essential items.
