The City Council of Tagbilaran, Bohol has passed a resolution allowing an additional P5 for fare for tricycles.

With this, the minimum fare for tricycles in the city will become P20.

The Council explained that the increase is necessary so that tricycles can continue providing service to commuters amid the successive spikes in the prices of fuel triggered by the tensions in the Middle East.

The Council said the P5 increase is just enough for tricycle drivers to earn a living and still afford fuel.

In other areas in the Philippines, tricycle operators have chosen to stop plying the streets because of skyrocketing fuel prices.
