Four people died while 29 others were injured after an elf truck en route to a graduation celebration figured in an accident in Aleosan, Cotabato the weekend of the Holy Week.

CCTV footage shows the truck traveling behind a motorcycle in Barangay San Mateo at around 3 p.m.

The truck reportedly swerved to avoid the motorcycle but it crashed into the center island, instead, and hit an oncoming multicab.

The impact threw the truck passengers onto the road.

Three women - 21, 43, and 50 years old - and a three-year-old boy were declared dead on arrival at the hospital due to severe injuries.

The passengers who were injured are receiving treatment, as of this writing.

According to the Cotabato Police Provincial Office, the passengers of the truck were heading to Kusiong Beach in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte from the SGA-BARMM to celebrate a family member’s college graduation when the accident happened.

The truck driver claimed he attempted to avoid the motorcycle, but the vehicle veered into the other lane.

Investigation into the incident continues.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) has extended assistance to the victims.
