Travel agencies in Davao City are feeling the effects of the Middle East conflict, reporting that several clients have canceled international trips.

After the war broke out, several airlines have suspended or canceled flights temporarily, including those for Riyadh, Dubai, and neighboring countries, to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft.

The conflict is also expected to impact aircraft fuel supply if it continues.

Philippine Airlines said earlier it has enough jet fuel to maintain scheduled operations, including long-haul flights, while Cebu Pacific has enough fuel for domestic and international flights until June 2026.

The airlines announced network adjustments earlier, including flight cancellations, as global fuel prices have more than doubled compared to the average in 2025.

Among the flights cancelled is the Davao-Bangkok-Davao route from April 13 to October 23, 2026.

According to a travel agency in Davao City, the conflict has affected their operations significantly as some clients canceled their international tour packages.

“Dako gyud kaayo og epekto sa amoang travel agency and, honestly, stressful kaayo siya sa among side labi na sa flights gikan Davao kay kasagaran naa gyuy connecting flight for international travel mao nga kung naay cancellations, delays or rerouting, dako gyud sya og impact sa travellers,” travel agent, Shien Nicole Salig, said.

Agencies urged clients to consider rescheduling their travel plans, instead of canceling, since advance payments have been made by tour operators for airline and accommodation.

“Sa amoang booked guests, especially sa package tours, amo gyud silang gina-advise nga if possible, irescheduling nalang instead of cancellation given the current situation… daghan gyud uncertainties sa flights so importante gyud nga mag-andam og extra patience and understanding,” Salig added.

Travel agencies assured that clients are updated and are assisted in managing their travel plans in the safest and most practical way.

“Sa amoang side, gina-monitor gyud namo ang update sa airlines labi na kung naay pagtaas sa fuel surcharge kay automatic man gyud musaka ang airfare. Kung naa pud flight cancellations ang airlines, kasagaran muhatag og alternative options sama sa refund, rebooking, and travel fund,” Salig said.
