Up to 40 families composed of 160 individuals were displaced by a fire that razed up to 27 houses in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City evening on Black Saturday.
No one was hurt in the incident but the fire left an estimated P2.3 million damage to property.
The fire broke out at past 7 p.m. and firefighters placed it under control at past 9 p.m.
Investigation into the cause of the fire continues, as of this writing, according to SF03 Wendell Villanueva, spokesperson of the Cebu City Fire Station.
One of the angles the investigation is looking into is the report that a man started the fire deliberately.
However, no one has come forward to state this on record just yet.
The Bureau of Fire Protection has reminded the public to observe safety measures always, especially that the weather has gotten hotter with the entry of the dry season.
