Cagayan de Oro City is now under a state of energy emergency due to the continued increases in fuel prices.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the City Council approved the resolution pushed by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) for the declaration of the state of energy emergency.
It can be recalled that Mayor Rolando Uy issued an executive order on March 31, 2026 creating an energy crisis committee to discuss possible measures to address the effects of the ongoing fuel crisis.
The declaration will allow the local government to implement appropriate, timely, and coordinated measures to address risks brought by the global energy crisis.
With the approval of the legislative measure, the city’s executive department can immediately craft an emergency crisis plan to ensure the fair distribution of city funds.
According to the City Information Office, the beneficiaries will include transport groups, farmers, fisherfolks, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, solo parents, and other sectors affected.
