Cash assistance for motorela drivers and fuel subsidy for taxi drivers in Cagayan de Oro City were released on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Each motorela driver received P5,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and an additional of P2,000 from the city government.
The local government set up two separate paytout tables: one for the DSWD cash assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program and another for the city government’s aid.
“Nakadawat pa mi na increasan pa mi murag bintaha na lang gyud,” a motorela driver, Armando Canoy, said.
According to the City Information Office, more than 1,400 motorela drivers benefited from the cash assistance.
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Northern Mindanao (LTFRB-10), has begun distributing fuel subsidies for taxi drivers in the city.
However, some drivers expressed disappointment after discovering their names were not on the list.
“Ang gi-text lang kuno ang matagaan lisod man kaayo kay ako wala koy gcash number cellphone number lang pero nakapasa nako diha tinuod. Mag hulat ra kuno sa sunod ambot kanus-a pa,” a taxi driver, Rene Nalugon, said.
LTFRB-10 explained that only 281 taxi drivers were included in the first batch of fuel subsidies.
The agency said the payouts will continue Friday, April 10, 2026.
Taxi drivers are required to register on an e-wallet platform to receive the P5,000 subsidy, as mandated by LTFRB Central Office guidelines and the Commission on Audit (COA).
“No one will be left behind. Mahatagan sila tanan gcash lang ug pay maya so kung naa sila problema motabang man mi,” LTFRB-10 Director, Aljo Bendijo, said.
