A sports utility vehicle (SUV) that allegedly drove off without the driver paying for a full tank of diesel at a gasoline station in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental was intercepted on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
In a viral social media post of the gas station’s employee, the SUV driver reportedly filled nearly 58 liters of diesel but drove away suddenly without paying an estimated P7,000.
“Akong gitawag wala na gyud siya naminaw murag gituyo gyud to kay akong kauban nakakita nag katawaha man daw sila sa sulod,” pump attendant, Marjun Pacamalan, said.
Worried about having to cover for the unpaid amount, the gas attendant reported the incident immediately to the police.
Fortunately, the vehicle’s license plate was noted, allowing authorities to alert neighboring police stations.
The vehicle was eventually intercepted in Iligan City in the evening.
Police said the vehicle’s owner claimed he did not know what happened as someone else reportedly drove his vehicle at the time of the incident.
“Among nakita katong registered owner. Sa iyang allegation, wala siya kabalo kay dili man siya nag-drive; gipa-drive lang niya og lain. Wala siya kabalo kung nabayaran ba o wala,” El Salvador City Police Station Assistant Investigator, Senior Master Sergeant Lemuel Tecson, said.
The owner also coordinated with the pump attendant to settle the payment for the diesel.
The SUV has been released temporarily pending a formal complaint from the gas station management.
