Motorcades are banned temporarily in Davao City while prices of petroleum products continue to skyrocket.
The ban is among the three key resolutions passed during the first meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emergency Socioeconomic Crisis Response (IATF-Crisis) in response to the ongoing fuel crisis.
The task force also urged all offices under the city government to cut fuel consumption by 15 percent, except for priority offices such as those handling emergency and health services.
The local government clarified that the Davao City Bus Service will continue operations, citing its importance to commuters.
“We have already said that during this time, mas gikinahanglan na siya sa mga tao. So, magpadayon ang atoang Davao City bus,” Davao City Information Office Officer-in-Charge, Harvey James Lanticse, said.
The task force also adopted recommendations from the City Planning and Development Office on energy efficiency and conservation measures in government offices.
Meanwhile, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has prepositioned food and non-food items and is finalizing guidelines for the distribution of assistance to affected sectors.
“The CSWDO has prepositioned its food and non-food items and they are still preparing na all the other relief assistance for the affected Dabawenyos or Dabawenyos who will be affected moving forward kung magpadayon pa ning krisis,” Lanticse added.
Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte issued an executive order creating an inter-agency task force to address the impacts of the emergency socioeconomic crisis brought by the continued surge in fuel prices.
The task force is ordered to formulate and implement response measures to any socioeconomic emergencies, monitor prices of goods and commodities, ensure supply stability, and coordinate recovery programs to restore normalcy in the local economy.
