Several tricycle drivers in Davao City have expressed disappointment after they failed to receive cash relief assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
DSWD released the P5,000 cash aid for tricycle drivers across the region.
However, a number of tricycle drivers who went to the payout site at Agdao Public Market in Davao City said they were unable to claim the financial aid under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
“Ang ilang ingon karon magpaabot lang pero wala miingon kung kanus-a luoy kaayo mi,” a taxi driver said.
Some drivers said they have lined up for hours, hoping to receive the aid, only to find out they were not eligible for the payout.
Others claimed they received text notifications but were still not listed.
“Gitext san ko unya pag adto diri sa listahan wala,” another tricycle driver added.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) explained that the payout was based on the master list provided by the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO).
CSWDO said only 437 tricycle drivers were included in the list.
“Ayaw mo pagpila kung wala mo na text directly sa CSWDO kung kinsa man tong naa diri nga wala na text ni CSWDO mobaba na lang ta kay iverify pa mo ni CTTMO sa next batch,” CSWDO Social Services Welfare Operations Division Chief, Gina Molon, said.
DSWD-11 clarified that its office follows the list submitted by the local government, which determines the qualified beneficiaries based on set guidelines.
“Inexpect po talaga namin na may mga drivers na pupunta rito nagbabakasakali kahit wala sa master list pero may guidelines po tayong sinusunod kami payout lang when it comes to the information maliwanag yan sa city government at ltfrb na sila ang magpapaalam kung kailan ang payout kung kailan ang venue nitong cash relief assistance,” DSWD-11 Director, Rhuelo Aradanas, said.
For those who were not accommodated, DSWD assured that additional payout batches are expected in the coming days.
