A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 10-year-old stepdaughter in Don Carlos, Bukidnon.
Police said the first incident occurred on Monday, April 6, 2026, while the victim and everyone else at home were asleep.
The next day, the suspect allegedly attempted to assault the victim again sexually at the same hour, but the victim resisted and managed to escape.
“Pagka-April 7, 2026 mga bandang 4 a.m. gi-attempt na pud og rape usab ang atong biktima. However, na-managed niya ang pag-resist, so nisukol siya ug nakahawa ug nakalayas siya, mao na dayun to pagka-report dayun nag-conduct dayun og hot pursuit operation,” Bukidnon Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Capt. Shiela Joy Jangad, said.
Operatives located the suspect during hot pursuit, but he attempted to flee by climbing over the fence of their neighbor.
The suspect was arrested eventually. He is facing rape and attempted rape charges.
Meanwhile, the victim is set to undergo counseling and other interventions.
“Muna gina-encouraged gyud namo nga dili mahadlok ang mga kabataan and as well as kani atong mga babae nga muduol dayun sa atoang police station kay naa ta’y WCPD o Women and Children’s Protection Desk,” Jangad added.
