A man in Leganes, Iloilo died after he was mauled by three individuals, including two minors, after he reportedly called their attention for being noisy.
As shown in a CCTV footage, a commotion occurred at the pavilion at the entrance of the plaza in Leganes at past 3 p.m. on April 8.
Later, around 5:30 p.m., the lifeless body of a man was found in the area.
Authorities identified the victim as Jhomel Alejandro, 29, from Kalibo, Aklan. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Barangay Democracia in Jaro, Iloilo.
One suspect identified as Mark Joven Espeja, 19, was arrested later at his house in Barangay Cagamutan Sur, Leganes.
He was identified with the help of witnesses.
He was allegedly the one who prodded his two companions to mess with the victim.
“Pinagsabihan raw sila ng biktima na huwag maingay kasi matutulog na ang biktima sa itaas. Umoo naman ang ating arrested na suspek. Tapos sinabi niya raw sa witness natin at mga suspek na kasama niya na, ano, pag-tripan natin,” said Cpl. Joefel Amihan, investigator at the Leganes Municipal Police Station.
Amihan said charges will be filed against the suspects.
“Sasampahan natin sila (ng reklamo). Ang ating suspek na arrested for inquest proceedings, sasampahan sila ng (reklamo) murder,” Amihan added.
It was learned that the victim had been roaming around Leganes for five days after he reportedly left his employer’s house in Jaro.
It was his employer who identified him positively.
