Security personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) intercepted a 17-year-old minor who attempted to smuggle suspected shabu in a facility in Barangay Nalook, Kalibo, Aklan.
The suspected shabu was reportedly meant for an inmate in a drugs case.
The guards reportedly became suspicious when the minor’s companion left suddenly on a motorcycle just as the minor entered the jail.
The suspected shabu was discovered when the guards inspected the items the minor was bringing.
Three grams of suspected shabu worth P16,000 was found in rolls inserted into the stems of a bunch of kangkong.
“What our jail officers did is chineck nila ang dala ng minor and they found out na inside sa stalks ng kangkong, may mga elongated na sachets of the alleged shabu as well as mga foil na elongated,” said Atty. Junven Rey Umadhay, spokesperson of BJMP-6.
The minor was placed under police custody.
Umadhay said they are investigating the PDL for whom the suspected shabu was meant.
“If it will be established na siya mismo ang nag-request for the entry of the illegal drugs, there will be appropriate na liability (penalty) that will be imposed against him,” Umadhay said.
