A former councilor of the Municipality of Isabela in Negros Occidental was shot dead in Binalbagan town.

Rodulfo Fajardo was 72 years old.

“Binaril siya multiple times. Accordingly, apat ang suspects natin. About sa land grabbing,” said Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office in Negros Island Region.

Based on investigation, Fajardo was shot by armed men wearing bonnets while he was sitting on his motorcycle.

He was in Barangay Payao in Binalbagan town at that time visiting a property he was renting out.

In an official statement, the Romeo Nanta Command - New People’s Army South Central Negros Guerrilla Front has owned up to the crime.

The group said Fajardo was allegedly involved in land grabbing and was allegedly behind several crimes.

Fajardo served as councilor in Isabela from 2019 to 2022. He also served as barangay captain from 2014 to 2018.
