A 34-year-old man was injured after he was stabbed by his drinking companion in General Santos City.
Based on investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted he felt offended by the victim during their drinking session. He also allegedly harbored a prior grudge stemming from an earlier incident involving the victim and the suspect’s friend.
“Merong previous incident ng pananakit ng biktima doon sa kaibigan ng suspect, and then, medyo nahambugan daw ang suspect doon sa biktima. The suspect and the victim are under the influence of liquor, so maaring na-recall ng suspect yung pangyayari dahil sa sulsol ng mga kaibigan kaya (dahil) sa impluwensya ng alak, nagawa niya ng krimen,” Police Station 8 Commander, Major Robert Fores, said.
During a follow-up operation, police officers were seen in a video convincing a caretaker of a house to allow them entry to search for the suspect in Barangay Katangawan evening on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
The caretaker agreed later and, during the search, police found the suspect hiding under a blanket on a bed inside a room, where he was arrested.
Police said the suspect used a kitchen knife to stab the victim, who sustained injuries in the back.
The victim was rushed to a hospital and is now in stable condition.
The suspect is facing frustrated murder charges.
