A major portion of a resort in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato was razed by fire past 4 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026.

The fire damaged the front area of the resort, including the receiving area, souvenir shop, T’boli Hall, and the kitchen.

Firefighters responded immediately, and the fire was declared fire out after nearly an hour.

No one was injured in the incident.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), a witness said the fire may have started from the left side of the receiving area and spread quickly after gas from a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank in the kitchen nearby reportedly leaked.

“Naka-close ang LPG but since na -expose sa high heat, talagang naghanap ng mapag-iskipan or labasan yung pressure na nandoon sa loob ng tangke,” BFP Lake Sebu Acting Municipal Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector Lee-Michel Perfiñan, said.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and determining the cost of damage.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the resort owner for a statement, as of this writing.
