A container truck crashed into a funeral shop in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental on Friday, April 24, 2026, resulting in a chemical leak.

Members of the Bureau of Fire Protection Special Rescue Force-10 (BFP SRF-10) responded to the area after receiving information about the vehicular accident on the national highway.

Based on investigation, the truck reportedly lost control and crashed into a funeral shop, causing damage to the shop’s formalin storage drum and resulting in a chemical leak of around 200 liters.

The SRF team then isolated and secured the area and carried out hazard mitigation by diluting the chemical using water from a fire station nearby.

Authorities added that search operation were also conducted for two reported but unconfirmed victims.

“Through coordinated response, discipline, and strict adherence to safety procedures, the situation was effectively managed,” BFP SRF-10 said.

Authorities also reminded the public to remain vigilant, handle hazardous materials properly and prioritize road safety.

“Always prioritize road safety—stay alert, follow traffic rules, and ensure vehicles are in good condition before traveling,” BFP SRF-10 added.
