At least 10 personnel of the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) in Cagayan de Oro City tested positive for illegal drug use during a surprise drug test.

Alex Tablate, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Northern Mindanao (PDEA-10), said up to 161 RTA personnel underwent drug testing.

Tablate said based on confirmatory tests, nine tested positive for shabu while one tested positive for marijuana use.

“Ang point gyud ani is naa gihapon nag-violate so, most probably, ang mga action taken nato ani kanang, hopefully, para ma-prevent na pud kay kung mabalik lang man galing, useless ang atong effort,” Tablate said.

RTA said the official results have yet to reach its office. However, the agency assured the public that appropriate action will be taken in accordance with their policies.

Employees under job order status who tested positive may face termination from service while regular and casual employees will be required to undergo rehabilitation and further evaluation.

RTA spokesperson, James Andrade, said the office does not tolerate any form of illegal activity, including illegal drug use.

“Wala gyud ta nag-tolerate sa mga ingon ani nga actions. Gani, dili lang sa illegal nga droga lang any other illegal activity is not tolerable sa atong opisina. Gani sa atong side sa administrative division nato kung naa’y mga personnel nato nga pipila it’s either nangutong o uban pa naa gyud sanction nga ipahigayon nato sa ila,” Andrade said.
