A 22-year-old construction worker is facing charges for allegedly raping a 13-year-old Grade 7 student in Baguio City, police said.
The suspect, a resident of San Jacinto, Pangasinan who currently lives in Baguio, allegedly met the victim through social media. Police said their communication later developed into a relationship.
Authorities said the two agreed to meet in person on February 27, 2026, in East Quirino Hill where the alleged rape took place.
The victim’s father reported the incident to police on April 23. Authorities are now preparing charges for violation of Republic Act 11648, which strengthens the country’s anti-rape law.
The suspect has not issued any statement. Police are also trying to get a statement from the victim’s family.
Police reminded parents to guide and monitor their children closely, especially in their online activities.
“Reminders sa mga parents na to have a close supervision o guidance sa kanilang mga anak. Para naman sa mga kabataan, huwag basta-bastang makipag-meet up kasi doon nga nangyayari yung mga sexual abuses,” PMaj. Marcy Grace Marron, spokesperson of the Baguio City Police Office, said.
