The prices of eggs in Dagupan City have gone down due to oversupply.

As of May 7, 2026, the price of extra small eggs at the Malimgas Public Market has gone cheaper by P4 to P5 per piece.

The price of extra large eggs dropped by up to P8.

Based on monitoring by the Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG), many poultry growers have culled their chicken due to oversupply of eggs.

Culling is a way for growers to avoid additional cost and losses.

“Marami nag ka-culling ngayon na poultry grower dahil doon sa bagsak presyo ng egg. Below cost kasi ang production ngayon so magbabawas talaga,” said SINAG Chairman, Engr. Rosendo So.

Among these growers is Armand Fernandez of Lingayen, Pangasinan.

He said they have culled up to 5,000 chickens.

“Mahal ang patuka, tapos pabagsak ng pabagsak ang presyo. Talagang lugi kami,” he said.

Despite growers culling their chickens, the price and supply of eggs may go back to normal by June or July, according to SINAG.

The group does not anticipate problems in the supply of eggs in the coming months.
