A rider died when the motorcycle he was driving rammed into an SUV at the Transcentral Highway in the town of Balamban in Cebu.

The fatality was identified initially as a certain Jake, a resident of Mandaue City.

The SUV was driven by a certain Tony, a resident of Balamban.

The incident happened on May 9, 2026.

Based on investigation by the Balamban Police, the motorcycle was heading to the central part of Balamban. When it reached a curve, the rider reportedly lost control of the vehicle and the motorcycle swerved to the opposite lane, hitting the SUV.

The impact threw the rider off the motorcycle. He sustained injuries.

The rider was taken to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Balamban but he did not make it there alive.

The driver of the SUV was placed under police custody as investigation into the incident continues.
