A 22-year-old rider died while his two female companions were injured after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a steel fence of a residence in Barangay Minolas, Barili, Cebu.
Based on investigation, the victims had come from a disco in Barangay Nasipit and were heading toward Barangay Tangil, Dumanjug when the motorcycle swerved to the opposite lane upon reaching the place of incident, and slammed into the fence.
Because of the impact, the rider sustained severe head injuries and did not reach the hospital alive.
His companions were also injured and underwent treatment in the hospital.
Meanwhile, a truck bound for the Pasil Fishport in Talisay City crashed into the concrete tail of the Tabunok flyover.
The driver, who suffered minor bruises, said he was blinded by the glare of an oncoming vehicle’s headlights and failed to see the end portion of the flyover, causing the truck to overturn.
Four other passengers sustained minor injuries.
Because of the incident, traffic was disrupted temporarily for nearly an hour as firefighters and police officers worked to lift the truck back upright.
“Sa iyang alegasyon nga duna siya laing gikasugat nga sakyanan ug tungod kuno sa kasuwaw hinungdan nga wala dayon siya makaliko sa iyang manobela hangtod nga didto siya mibangga tiilan sa maong flyover. Matud pa niya wala siya makatagpilaw tungod lang gyud kuno sa iyang gikasugat nga sakyanan. So basi pud sa nakita namo sa camera tinuod duna gyud siyay gikasugat,” CT-TODA Chief, Jonathan Tumulak, said.
