A 21-year-old man, believed to have died from electrocution, was found floating in floodwaters in Barangay Buhangin, Davao City dawn on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Police identified the victim as a pump boy, a native of Manay, Davao Oriental, who was renting a house in Davao City.

Police officers and rescue teams from the barangay and Central 911 were monitoring areas affected by flood when they received information about the victim floating in floodwaters in front of his rented house.

Authorities tried to rescue the victim but he showed no signs of life. He was brought immediately to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

About an hour later, police said the victim was declared dead.

The attending physician said he died from cardiopulmonary arrest secondary to fatal cardiac dysrhythmia from accidental electrocution, associated with acute respiratory failure type 1 secondary to drowning and aspiration from floodwater submersion injury.
