A 28-year-old man died while three others were injured after a forward truck plowed into several vehicles in Polomolok, South Cotabato.
Based on investigation, the truck carrying several passengers was heading to a beach resort in General Santos City from Koronadal City when the accident happened.
Upon reaching the place of incident, the truck reportedly lost its brakes and rammed into two motorcycles, two cars, and a tricycle, which then crashed into another tricycle.
“After sa place of incident, na-lose iyang brake so nagkaroon ng collision sa vehicle 2 (motorcycle) at the same nag-continue sa other vehicles,” Polomolok Municipal Police Station OIC Chief, Capt. Redin Cuevas, said.
A motorcycle rider was declared dead on arrival at a hospital while three others, including a passenger of a tricycle, were also treated for injuries.
Authorities have placed the truck driver under inquest proceedings for possible charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury, and damage to property.
Police reminded motorists to ensure vehicles are in good condition before traveling and to strictly observe speed limits.
“Ongoing na ang implementation sa atung speed limit, kailangan natu na i-implement. Last nag dry run, i-implement natu na para maiwasan ang traffic accident,” Cuevas, added.
