Residents of a mountain barangay in Cebu City is seeking the help of the city government in going about a recent incident of butchered chickens getting dumped in the barangay.

At least 200 kilos of butchered chicken were found dumped at a grassy area by the road in sitio Bungan.

The residents said they started noticing foul smell evening on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Sonny Alcantara, a barangay tanod, said they noticed a vehicle stopping by the area where the chickens were found. It would only be a matter of time before residents would start smelling something foul. 

“Kuan siguro’y gisudlan ato, cooler ba… nidagan ngari… mao to, pagka-ugma, naa lagi gilabay dira,” he said.

The chickens have since been burned but residents said the foul smell persists. in fact, the area where the chickens were dumped continue to attract dogs.

Residents worry that the chickens dumped there may have had diseases that live chickens in the area might contract.
