A five-year-old boy was injured after his hand got caught in an escalator at a mall in Cagayan de Oro City.

Mall personnel stopped the elevator immediately to prevent further damage.

The boy sustained minor injuries and was brought to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) for treatment.

He is now safe.

Police said the boy was reportedly running around and ended up accidentally at the escalator.

The incident happened at the mall’s second floor.

“Nag-apil ni siya pagdagan-dagan ug accidentally nakaadto siya sa escalator ug mao to naipit siya didto,” Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Spokesperson, Capt. Emelita Simon, said.

Authorities reminded parents to always be vigilant when accompanying children.

“I-ensure gyud nato ang ilang safety. Dili nato pasagdan ug dili nato tugutan nga mawala sa atong panan-aw o custody o pagbantay,” Simon added.
