Two women died in fatal accidents in Pangasinan and Leyte while another woman was injured in a road accident in Cebu.

In Pangasinan, a 67-year-old woman died a day after she was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road in Mangaldan.

The incident happened at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in Barangay Bari, where CCTV footage showed the victim, identified as Buenafe Olivares, crossing the road on her way home. Just a few steps away from reaching the other side, she was hit by an approaching motorcycle.

The impact dragged the victim along the road before bystanders rushed her to a hospital. She died the following day from her injuries.

According to relatives, Olivares had only gone to a nearby store to buy cigarettes and was returning home when the accident occurred.

“Sabi ko, Ate lumaban ka, alam ko malakas ka sa Panginoon, lumaban ka kasi marami ka pang misyon sa mundo,” Marjorie Biason, the victim’s sister, said.

Biason said her sister was already close to reaching the other side of the road when she was struck.

“Isang step na lang andito na siya pero may humaharurot na motor kaya siya nabangga, tapos nakaladkad pa siya,” she said.

Police said the motorcycle driver surrendered to authorities on Wednesday, June 3.

According to investigators, the driver did not immediately report the incident because he and his passenger also suffered injuries in the crash. However, police said the driver has accepted responsibility for the accident.

“Mabilis daw ‘yung pangyayari, sabi niya (driver ng motorsiklo) talagang nagulat siya kasi biglang tumawid ang biktima. Although itong biktima ay tumingin pa sa kaliwa’t kanan kaya lang talagang mabilis ang takbo kasi that time maulan siguro iniiwasang mabasa kaya mabilis ang takbo ng nakamotorsiklo,” Police Lt. Col. Perlito Tuayon, chief of the Mangaldan Police Station, said.
