“Let your intimate moments be a secret between you and your partner.”

This is the message of Col. Richard Habawel, Chief of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU)-6 to couples who might decide to end their relationship in not so good terms.

In the first week of June 2026, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 arrested a man in San Jose, Antique for threatening to spread an intimate video with his girlfriend.

The police said the man made the threat when the woman decided to break up with him. The two of them are students.

The man was arrested during the operation carried out by RACU on June 5, 2026. During the operation, the police made it appear that the woman wanted to meet up with the suspect.

Charges have been filed against the suspect.

“Kasi itong victim gustong makipag-break na pero ang suspek ayaw, so gin-threaten niya ang victim na ikakalat yung mga explicit videos and photos kung makikipag-break siya. Nahuli po ang suspect and na-filan ng kaso,” Habawel said.

DON’T TAKE A VIDEO

Police reminded couples not to take videos of their intimate moments so as not to put themselves in possible compromising situations.

Habawel said complaints about threats to make intimate materials public is not something new.

He advised couples not to resort to making threats in the event their break-up happens in a not so amicable manner.
