The number of fatalities from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao has risen to 45, based on data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, 33 of the victims were from the SOCCSKSARGEN region while 12 were from the Davao region.
Office of Civil Defense-Davao (OCD-11) Director Ednar Dayanghirang said of the 12 fatalities in the Davao region, seven were from Jose Abad Santos, three from Sarangani, one from Malita, Davao Occidental, and another from Digos City, Davao del Sur.
At least 17 people remain missing, as of this writing, and nearly 500 others were injured.
In its 8 a.m. report on Thursday, June 11, 2026, NDRRMC said more than 346,000 people have been affected by the earthquake.
Authorities said the death toll may still rise as search, rescue, and retrieval operations in areas affected by landslides triggered by the tremor continue.
However, reaching some areas remains difficult due to damage roads, and communication is also a challenge since some areas still have no electricity or telecommunication signals.
Currently, OCD-11 is using air assets such as helicopters to deliver aid to quake survivors.
