A telecommunications company has restored its services and activated its free satellite-to-mobile connectivity for more than 700,000 subscribers in parts of Mindanao affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake.

In an advisory, Globe said it has restored services fully in Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, South Cotabato, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani.

“Restoration teams remain deployed in areas still experiencing intermittent signal, particularly where commercial power outages continue to affect telecommunications facilities,” the advisory read.

Meanwhile, the free satellite-to-mobile service covers areas where terrestrial networks may have been disrupted, including Sarangani, South Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat, enabling residents affected to access essential communication services while recovery and relief operations continue.

Under the program, prepaid subscribers in covered areas will receive 1GB of mobile data and 50 SMS valid until June 17. On the other hand, postpaid and platinum subscribers will be provided 2GB of data and unlimited SMS valid until August 10, 2026.

The service is available in Sarangani, as well as several towns and cities in South Cotabato, including Banga, Koronadal City, Lake Sebu, Norala, Polomolok, Santo Niño, Surallah, T’Boli, Tampakan, Tantangan, and Tupi.

In Sultan Kudarat, the service covers Bagumbayan, Tacurong City, Columbio, Esperanza, Isulan, Kalamansig, Lambayong, Lebak, Lutayan, Palimbang, President Quirino, and Sen. Ninoy Aquino.

Subscribers are advised to use the service in open areas with a clear view of the sky, noting that terrain, dense vegetation, tall structures, or adverse weather conditions may affect signal quality.

The company added that the satellite-based connectivity solution is intended to serve as a critical communication backup during disasters, power outages, and other emergencies, helping affected residents stay connected with families, access vital information, and coordinate relief efforts.

Other telecommunication companies are also monitoring the situation closely as their teams continue to support communities devastated by the quake.

On June 8, 2026, a powerful tremor marked the first day of classes in several areas of Mindanao after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off Sarangani around 7:37 a.m.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the epicenter was located 05.57°N, 124.98°E - 032 km S 04° W of Maasim, Sarangani and had a depth of 33 kilometers.
