A man was killed while his two helpers were injured after the truck they were riding crashed into a perimeter fence in Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Based on investigation, the truck carrying construction materials was heading to a warehouse in Barangay Camaman-an from Libona, Bukidnon to deliver stocks.
However, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle after its brakes allegedly malfunctioned while traveling downhill.
“Nag-declare kuno kining nag drive si Mr. Reynald nga didto pa lang sa Indahag banda wala nay brake ang truck bahado man gud na nga dalan panaog sa nahitaboan wala na gyud nakakuha og control sa driver,” Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (TEU-COCPO) Deputy Commander, Capt. Jaces Joshua Abrasaldo, said.
Due to the impact, the driver was pinned to his seat and died on the spot. His two helpers, on the other hand, sustained injuries but are now safe.
Police said the family of the driver and the owner of the truck reportedly reached an agreement.
“Kini atong mga driver nga magdala og susama sa mga dagko ug mga karaan nga sakyanan nga i-practice ug hibal-e ninyo unsaon paggamit sa engine brake labi na sitwasyon nga ingon ani kay dako kaayo na ug tabang,” Abrasaldo added.
