The death toll from a dump truck accident in Labrador, Pangasinan has risen to seven after another victim died while undergoing treatment, as authorities widened their investigation.

Police said the seventh person passed away at the Lingayen District Hospital a day after the truck carrying workers plunged into a ravine in Barangay Bolo.

“Meron na pong pito, latest doon sa namatay. At meron pa po tayong mga nasa ospital,” Police Captain John Ramos, officer-in-charge of the Labrador Police Station, said.

Authorities said they would visit hospitals where the injured victims were taken to monitor their condition and gather additional information for the investigation.

The victims were employees of a solar plant project in the area. Representatives of the company met with local officials on Wednesday and assured them that assistance would be provided to the families of those killed and injured.

According to Ramos, company representatives have assured help.

“Sabi naman nila, wala naman na tayong magagawa diyan kasi aksidente naman po. And then, kami naman sabi niya, we are willing to help those people dahil siyempre hindi naman nila kagustuhan,” Ramos said.

Police returned to the accident site on Thursday, June 18, 2026, to conduct follow-up investigation. Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) also joined the probe and are expected to carry out a separate inquiry.

“Si NBI naman, Sir, since may mga Chinese na nandoon. So, titingnan nila kung mayroon ba sila talagang papel or may lapses din doon sa part nila. So, ni-request ni mayor na pasamahin po sila,” Ramos said.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the crash. However, initial findings point to a possible mechanical failure that caused the truck to lose control and plunge into the ravine.

Police said they are still awaiting statements from the victims' relatives who remain in mourning. Investigators are encouraging family members to coordinate with authorities as part of ongoing case proceedings.

Investigation continues, as of this writing.
