A man wanted for his alleged involvement in illegal drug activities was killed in an armed confrontation when authorities attempted to serve an arrest warrant against him in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
According to the Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11), the suspect identified as alias “Bobong” reportedly resisted arrest and fired shots at the operating team using a caliber .45 pistol, prompting operatives to return fire.
The suspect sustained gunshot wounds and was brought to a hospital for treatment, but he died later.
Recovered from the scene were a caliber .45 pistol, ammunition, a hand grenade, a digital weighing scale, various drug paraphernalia, dried marijuana with fruiting tops, and sachets of suspected shabu worth around P227,800.
Police also recovered one fired cartridge case believed to be from a caliber .45 firearm and four fired cartridge cases believed to be from a 9mm gun.
PRO-11 said the suspect was classified as the sixth most wanted person in the province and number one in the city.
He had a standing arrest warrant for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165) issued by a court in Mati City with no bail recommended.
