A 70-year-old woman was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur on Wednesday, June 23, 2026.
Authorities said the victim was standing by the road in Barangay Puerto Real at around 11 a.m. when a gunman riding a motorcycle approached and shot her in the head.
CCTV footage captured the motorcycle and showed a back rider getting off and approaching the victim shortly before the attack, investigators said.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.
The Philippine National Police has not released additional details as the investigation continues.
In a statement posted on social media, the Ilocos Sur police condemned the incident and assured the public that security measures across the province have been strengthened.
The victim's family has yet to issue a statement, as of press time.
