Several Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) base commands have declared the Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG), Sub-Regional Committee-5 (SRC-5) of the New People’s Army (NPA), and other lawless elements as persona non grata within their areas of influence in Lanao del Norte.
According to the Army’s 1st Infantry Division (1ID), the MILF’s 127th and 123rd Base Commands made the declaration during separate ceremonies in Munai town on May 23 and June 23, 2026, respectively.
“These significant events underscore the unwavering resolve of local stakeholders to reject terrorism, violent extremism, and criminal activities that threaten the safety and well-being of their communities,” 1ID said.
Conducted in close collaboration with MILF leaders, local government units, peace mechanisms, and key stakeholders, the activities concluded with the signing of resolutions and a pledge of commitment to peace, reaffirming a shared commitment to peace and sustainable development.
The military said the twin declarations marked a significant step in strengthening community resilience and reaffirming the partnership among the MILF, local government units, peace stakeholders, law enforcement agencies, and the military in sustaining the gains of the peace process.
“By collectively rejecting the presence and influence of violent extremist groups, the people and leaders of Lanao del Norte have sent a clear and powerful message: peace, stability, and progress will prevail over fear, violence, and division. The initiative further reinforces the shared commitment of all stakeholders to foster a secure environment where communities can thrive and future generations can prosper,” 1ID added.
