The Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) is set to conduct an active shooting simulation exercise in schools to enhance emergency preparedness and response.

According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay said teachers and students in Davao City must be trained on steps to take in the event a similar incident at the public school Tacloban City happens.

Three students were killed and several others were wounded in the shooting in Tacloban on June 22, 2026.

As of this writing, the PSSO in Davao is preparing the conduct of active shooting simulation exercise in coordination with various schools and the security cluster.

Sumagaysay clarified that police protocols are already in place in the event of an active shooting incident, and they are also ready to deploy additional personnel to ensure tighter security in schools.

Sumagaysay added that the number of police personnel and school funds for additional security staff is limited.

Therefore, PSSO personnel will be deployed to help ensure security and assist in managing traffic flow.
