The former vice mayor and councilor of Abuyog, Leyte, and his son, were found dead in the town of Silago.

Silago is located about 37 kilometers south of Abuyog.

The bodies of James Bohol, 60, and Carlo James Bohol, 29, were found by the road on June 30, 2026, three days after they were reported missing on June 27.

According to the social media post of James’ other child, the victims were kidnapped from their warehouse in Barangay Santa Cruz in Mayorga town at around 1 p.m.

Mayorga is located about 18.6 kilometers away from Abuyog.

They were allegedly forced into a car and were never found again.

Forensic and medico legal examinations confirmed that the bodies found in Silago are that of the father and son.

The police have launched an investigation to determine the motive of the kidnapping and killing, and identify the perpetrators. The Police Regional Office (PRO)-8 is set to hold a press conference on July 2, 2026, to make public more details about the case.

At the victims’ house in Abuyog, their caskets were closed during the wake.

Their family has declined an interview with GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak.

The flag at the town hall has been placed on half staff to pay respects to the former official.

In a social media post, Abuyog mayor Lemuel Gin Traya condoled with the family and condemned the brutal killing.

His statement reads:

We are deeply saddened by the confirmation received from the Philippine National Police (PNP) regarding the tragic and senseless demise of former Abuyog Vice Mayor James Bohol and his son, Carlou James “Jimbo” Bohol.

The Local Government Unit of Abuyog unequivocally condemns this heinous act of violence. Such profound lawlessness has no place in our society, as it directly violates the peace, order, and security that we uphold within our municipality.

We extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the immediate family, and to everyone who grieves this catastrophic loss. Our collective prayers, thoughts, and unwavering support are with the bereaved family during this unimaginably painful time.

Let us stand together as one resilient community in solidarity against violence, and let us pray for the eternal repose of the souls of former Vice Mayor James Bohol and his son.
