A traffic enforcer in Cebu City was removed from his post after he was allegedly caught on video extorting money from a motorist he had apprehended.
In the video obtained by Raquel Arce, chief of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), an enforcer can be seen stopping a motorist.
The traffic enforcer is also heard negotiating and mentioning an amount in exchange for not confiscating the driver’s license, suggesting either P500 or P100 to avoid further hassle for the motorist.
To avoid inconvenience, the motorist eventually paid P100. The video captured the enforcer receiving the money.
An earlier version of the video went viral on social media, but a clearer footage received by Arce shows what the traffic enforcer did.
After the incident, Arce did not allow the enforcer to report to work, and since he is a job order employee, his contract will no longer be renewed.
CCTO is also considering filing a complaint against the traffic enforcer, as his actions have brought embarrassment to the office.
The enforcer involved could no longer be reached for comment.
