The Office of Civil Defense-SOCCSKSARGEN (OCD-12) has laid down its recovery and rehabilitation plan to support post-disaster rebuilding efforts following the severe impacts of the destructive magnitude 7.8 earthquake in the region.

The plan was presented during the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC-12) meeting held in Koronadal City on Tuesday, July 1, 2026.

As of July 1, 2026, a total of 67 people have been reported dead in the region, 11 are still missing, and 1,236 were injured following the tremor that struck on June 8, with its epicenter in Maasim, Sarangani.

Many houses and infrastructures were also damaged.

During the full council meeting, the estimated cost of damage caused by the earthquake was reported at more than P52 billion.

With this, RDRRMC-12 passed a resolution to secure funding for the rehabilitation efforts.

“We passed several resolution requesting our Congress person for the SOCCSKSARGEN Region to lobby, to champion this cost, to allocate specific funds for comprehensive repair for the damages,” Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev-12) Focal Person, Gwen Collado, said.

According to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine Army has already terminated its search and retrieval operations for the remaining missing persons in the landslide with the consent of the affected families.

However, if further operations are still requested, the local government will take the lead.

“As we heard from our 1002nd Brigade, sila yung head ng search and rescue sa mountain, search and rescue operation, and so nag-declare na sila na wala ng SRR but the LGU,  yung mga missing na ayaw pa nilang mag-apply ng death certificate for their kin na wala na or na buried sa landslide, ay sila na sa LGU ang mag-undertake ng SRR na yan,” DILG-12 Director, Atty. Rochelle Mahinay Sero, said.

Meanwhile, OCD-12 is also open to those who want to extend assistance.

“Ating ini-encourage ang ating mga kababayan kung sino man ang may extra resources to share to the most affected people, marami pang pangangailangan in the field pilit naming itong pinupunuan but we are very lucky na ang ating national government is behind us,” OCD-12 Director, Rodrigo Sosmeña, said.
