Classes at the public elementary and national high school in Talisay City, Cebu are suspended on Monday, July 6, 2026, following a security threat made against the high school.

Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas said this would give law enforcement, including the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, to investigate the threat and secure the schools.

The schools are located adjacent to each other.

Gullas shared on his Facebook page a screenshot of the social media post on an account with the name Zane Bacalso, which warned that someone will fire shots at the high school on July 6.

“bantay mo ugma TCNHS naay mamusil,” the post reads.

The user also called out students of the school for allegedly bullying his / her younger sibling.

“shout diay kos talisay city national high school wa moy buot gi unsa ninyo akung manghud sige daw siya bully dihaaaa condolence nalng daan sa mga istudyante diha!!”

Gullas said he has already coordinated with the Talisay City Division of the Department of Education (DepEd).

He said “These kinds of posts are never a joke and must always be treated as credible until proven otherwise.”

The mayor warned residents:

“To anyone who thinks hiding behind a fake Facebook account makes you untouchable, ayaw mo’g salig nga lisod ka ma-trace.

If the person behind this threat is identified, I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in our city. Threats against our schools, our students, and our teachers are serious criminal matters. The safety of our children will always come first, and those responsible will be held fully accountable under the law.”
