A woman was killed while another was injured after they were allegedly shot by the husband of one of the victims in Davao City on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

The children were left crying after their mother identified as alias “Jem,” 48, was shot in their presence.

Based on investigation, Jem was selling fruits on Lakandula Street, Barangay Ubalde, Agdao, when the incident happened around 7:48 p.m.

The victim’s sister, alias “Joan,” was also shot.

Joan was captured on video bleeding and seeking help. Upon reaching Del Pilar Street, she boarded an e-bike to be transported to the hospital.

Jem was also brought to a hospital but died. Her husband was identified as the suspect.

Police are eyeing jealousy as motive.

“Ang motibo is selos daw accordingly base sa investigation. Prior sa shooting incident aduna silay panag-away nga nahitabo kato gihapong adlawa, niagi ang motor naka NMAX gibaril,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Spokesperson, Major Teresita Gaspsan, said.

According to one of the children, their stepfather had previously threatened to kill their mother.

“Akong stepfather daan nato gabahad nag screenshot si mama sa ako nga ang chat is di kana magtatagal sa mundo dahil babarilin kita. Daghan natog record akong stepfather kay iyang dapatan akong mama,” Jem’s son said.

Authorities are pursuing the suspect, as of this writing.

“Unta makonsensya siya saiyang gibuhat maam ba babae maam iyang ingon atuon patyon niya lain kaayo ng ingon ana uy dili baya sayon mawad-an og inahan lisod kaayo patay na akong mama patay na pud akong papa,” Jem’s son added.
