Disaster officials in Pangasinan stepped up monitoring of major rivers and flood-prone communities after Super Typhoon #IndayPH entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), even as water levels remained below alert thresholds on Tuesday, July 8, 2026.

The PAGASA Agno River Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said it is closely watching the tributaries of the Agno and Sinocalan rivers for possible rises in water levels as heavy rains from the typhoon and upstream runoff begin to affect the province.

Senior Weather Specialist Engr. Greg De Vera II of the PAGASA Agno River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said the ground has not yet become fully saturated, reducing the immediate risk of severe flooding.

"Hindi pa gaanong saturated 'yung ating kalupaan kaya ang nakikita natin dito, kung sakaling magkaroon man tayo ng pagtaas sa ating katubigan dito sa downstream, maaaring nasa alarm level lang," De Vera said.

In Mangaldan, the local disaster risk reduction and management office is closely monitoring 22 low-lying villages, particularly those near the 12 tributaries of the Angalacan River.

Mangaldan MDRRMO head Rodolfo Corla said responders and rescue personnel have already been deployed.

"Patuloy po na naka-deploy ang ating mga responders at divers, bantay-ilog ng ating Angalacan River and other river systems sa bayan ng Mangaldan," Corla said.

Residents in flood-prone communities like Bobby Ukay have also begun preparing for the storm by securing their homes and protecting valuable belongings.

"Yung mga puno na dapat tanggalin, tinatanggal na namin para maiwasan 'yung pagtama sa mga kuryente. Yung mga gamit naman po, tinataasan namin, 'yung mga importanteng gamit," Ukay said.

In Calasiao, the municipal disaster response team is keeping a close watch on villages along four river systems, particularly the Sinocalan-Marusay River, which authorities said poses the greatest flood risk to low-lying areas.

"Ang binabantayan natin ay Sinocalan-Marusay River kasi ito 'yung may malaking epekto sa ating mga low-lying barangay. Although, mayroon din 'yung ating Parongking River and San Pablo River," Calasiao MDRRMO officer Kristine Joy Soriano said.

Water search and rescue teams, along with disaster response equipment, have been placed on standby across several Pangasinan towns as authorities prepare for the possible effects of Super Typhoon Inday.
