Authorities in Iloilo have kept a close eye on a drug suspect, “Alexis,” for five months.

One day, they saw the suspect live online, allegedly selling illegal drugs. They found the opportunity to pounce on him, finally.

Operatives of the Molo Police Station proceeded immediately to the suspect’s house in Barangay Boulevard to execute a buy-bust. However, Alexis reportedly got tipped off just as operatives were stepping into barangay.

The suspect then slipped out of his house fast and jumped into a river to escape, allegedly leaving behind the alleged illegal drugs he was selling.

Col. Wilbert Parilla, Director of the Iloilo City Police Office, said Alexis reportedly told potential customers they could go to his house and use the drugs there.

“Naabutan doon, naiwan niya ang mga drugs niya doon. Nagsabi siya na pwede na daw pumunta doon sa bahay nila kasi based doon sa information nila, na pwede na daw na doon ka gumamit sa bahay nila,” Parilla said.

Aside from going live on social media, Alexis would also reportedly post images of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia online.

Alexis’ mother, Maria, said later that her child uses illegal drugs but Alexis reportedly was not selling them.

She said Alexis is also not on social media because he reportedly could not afford to buy a phone.

He could barely even buy food, the mother said.

“Wala siyang pera. Kahit pambili nga ng pagkain, ulam, wala,” Maria said.

She also admitted that after that time Alexis eluded arrest, he reportedly returned home to change clothes and went away again.

“Bumalik siya at nagpalit ng gamit kasi basa siya. Sabi ko, doy, ninenerbyos ako sa iyo,” Maria said.
