Five people were reported dead while two others were injured after a landslide buried several homes in Barangay Ngingir, Calanogas, Lanao del Sur on Friday, July 10, 2026.

According to the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO), the landslide was triggered by heavy rains brought by #IndayPH.

The two individuals injured have been brought to the Rural Health Unit for treatment.

Meanwhile, search and rescue operations are ongoing for six more individuals after their houses were buried by the landslide.

Authorities said reaching the area affected has been difficult because it can no longer be accessed by vehicles.

Authorities are still assessing the number of affected families and the extent of damage.

“Hndi talaga inaasahan na ganoon ang mangyayari kasi dito sa Calanogan ang kailangan talaga dito sa amin ay slope protection tapos hindi masyado natitingnan ang highway kasi hindi ‘yan under sa BARRM eh, under yan sa DPWH 12 ata,” Calanogas Mayor Abdul Hakim Benito said.
