Four barangays affected by the deadly flooding and landslides in Calanogas, Lanao del Sur have been placed under a state of calamity.

The Sangguniang Bayan has passed a resolution declaring a state of calamity in Barangays Ngingir, Mimbalawag, Inoma, and Piksan due to the destructive effects of continuous rains and landslides on Friday, July 10, 2026.

The rains were caused by Habagat enhanced by the effects of super typhoon #IndayPH.

As of this writing, seven people were reported dead, two were injured, and four others remain missing.

Based on the latest situational report of the local government over the weekend, eight houses were destroyed and 39 families were evacuated.

The flooding and landslides damaged agricultural properties and disruption of transportation routes.

The declaration of state of calamity will allow the municipal government to mobilize emergency resources and implement response, relief, recovery, and rehabilitation measures immediately to protect the safety and well-being of communities affected.

Meanwhile, classes at all levels in public and private schools in the town are suspended from July 12 to 16, 2026, due to the adverse effects of #IndayPH.

According to a memorandum issued by Mayor Abdul Hakim Benito, the suspension aims to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel.

The local government said the suspension may be extended, modified, or lifted earlier depending on prevailing conditions.

Benito and other officials and personnel from various agencies distributed hygiene kits and food packs to families affected by the landslide.
