At least 35 of Iloilo City's 180 barangays were flooded when strong rains and winds from the Habagat, enhanced by #IndayPH, affected Western Visayas and other parts of the country starting on July 10, 2026.

Floodwater was deepest at six feet in Barangay Sto. Domingo in the Arevalo District, based on data from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

At least 400 families or 1,371 individuals were evacuated.

The good news is that CDRRMO recorded zero deaths.

“We had zero casualties in the City of Iloilo. Ang ating mga residente, nag-proceed agad sa evacuation center,” said Darwin Papa, head of the operations division of the Iloilo CDRRMO.

But the winds and flooding damaged infrastructure in the city.

At least three houses were destroyed and six trees and electrical posts fell to the ground.

At the Tanza Public Cemetery, at least 55 tombs crumbled.

Engr. Neil Ravena, head of the Iloilo City General Services Office (GSO), said the city has started clearing operations and has started transferring remains to other areas.

“Kinordon natin and we mobilized ang clearing operation at transfer of remains,” he said.

Face-to-face classes in the city were not suspended on July 13, Monday, but a day care center in Arevalo did not hold classes after floodwaters entered classrooms.

“Bumabaha talaga dito. Ang daanan diyan, hanggang tuhod, nakapasok sa center. Ipinaalam ko naman ito sa mga parents,” said Evangelyn Cabrera, a day care worker.
